Privacy Policy

What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information My Quran ("the app") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. My Quran is built and maintained by Muhammad Shafeeq, an independent developer, reachable at hello.myquran.dev@gmail.com.
Who My Quran is for
My Quran's content — Quran reading, translations, recitation audio, prayer times, Qibla direction, and Tasbih counting — is suitable for people of all ages. Using the app requires creating an account (see below), which follows the age requirements of our authentication providers.
Information we collect
My Quran collects the following information to provide and improve the app:
- Account information — My Quran requires an account to use the app. You can create one by signing in with Google (we receive your name and email address), or by registering with an email address and password (we receive your email address and a securely hashed password via Firebase Authentication — we never store your password in plain text).
- Reading & worship data — your reading progress, bookmarks, Tasbih (dhikr counter) counts, and profile preferences (such as country, language, and Quran reading level), so they can sync across your devices.
- Notification preferences — your chosen prayer notification settings (sound, advance reminders, repeat options) so the app can alert you at the right times.
- Device & usage data — through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, we receive basic device information (device model, OS version), app usage patterns, and crash/error reports to help us fix bugs and improve the app.
- Location — if you enable location access, it's used on your device to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. This location is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
My Quran does not show ads and does not use any advertising SDKs.
How information is used
We use the information above to create and secure your account, provide core app features (sync of bookmarks, reading progress, and Tasbih counts across your devices; accurate prayer times and notifications), respond to support requests, and identify and fix bugs through crash reporting.
Third-party services
My Quran uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — for authentication (Google Sign-In and email/password sign-in), data sync/storage, analytics, and crash reporting. See Firebase's Privacy and Security policy.
- Google Sign-In — for account authentication. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on Firebase's secure infrastructure for storage, transmission, and password hashing. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
International data transfer
My Quran is developed in Pakistan, and the third-party services we use (such as Firebase) may store or process your data on servers located in other countries. By using the app, you consent to your information being processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. You can request any of these by emailing hello.myquran.dev@gmail.com, and we'll respond within 7 business days.
Data retention & deletion
We retain your account and app data for as long as your account is active, so your bookmarks, progress, and settings remain available across your devices.
You can delete your account directly from within the app under Settings → Delete Account, or by visiting our Delete Account page and emailing us your request. Account deletion requests are completed within 7 business days. Some anonymized usage analytics not linked to your identity may be retained, and data we're legally required to keep (e.g. for fraud or abuse prevention) is kept for up to 30 days after deletion before being permanently purged. See our Delete Account page for full details.
Children's privacy
My Quran's content is appropriate for users of all ages. However, because using the app requires creating an account through Google Sign-In or email/password, account creation follows the age requirements set by those providers — Google Sign-In requires the account holder to meet Google's own minimum age requirements (or use a supervised Family Link account). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 outside of these supervised pathways. If you believe a child has created an account or provided personal information to us outside of an appropriate supervised pathway, please contact us at the email above so we can review and remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
